I missed a few seconds of that 'action', I think the dog attempted to bite somebody there. I wouldn't dare to touch that man though, a dog acknowledges his master regardless if he took a beating just moments ago and thusly it would protect him. Not healthy for me, unfortunately.

Also, since I had my 35mm on and I was more than 5 meters away when I saw something happening, there were people in front of me blocking the view as they were walking, so I missed this one shot, where he actually hit the dog with his hand, which could be heard. If the dog is aggressive, I can see why.

Yeah. It is a shame that the breed get such a bad rap when it is usually the owner that is responsible for it. My sister owned several Staph Terriers and not one of them were mean or vicious. In fact they were the family dog and she had two small kids at the time. Shameful but look at the emotion that your picture evoked...you should be commended on that!

Pit bull terrier...

That guy needs a foot up his ass, he can only hope to God I never see him doing something like that to a dog. I wont hesitate to confront him on it and beat his ass down if needed.
Sad shame people have no respect for animals.

nice black and white. good tones and composition.

- moral of the story- keep your dog at home or away from a large crowd.

Such a sad thing to see. I have 2 dogs, one is American Pitbull, the other is American Staffy (not much difference I believe, its just what their papers say) . They are the most beautiful dogs and have a fantastic nature. I have 4 kids and have never worried for a second with these 2 dogs around. I do believe it is all in the upbringing of the dog. Any dog can be vicious if it is taught to be, or treated badly.

Not recommended. ;)
As mentioned earlier, dogs are very protective of their masters, even after they've just been beaten. That pit bull would maul your face right off.

I'm not a dog trainer but I believe I read somewhere that it is preferable to correct a dog with a choke chain than to hit it with your hand, stick, or whatever.

That is a great picture and it does say a thousand words. I must agree that it is disturbing. The owner should maybe reconsider walking his dog among crowds of people.

I wouldn't have cofronted him though. A pitbull's powerful jaws can bite right through a body.

I meant the 10D camera body...

Sandi, I just heard a local story about a woman who had her young nephew over for a visit, and while she was in the other room, her pitbull mauled her nephew pretty visciously. She left the young boy (2 I think) with her 7 year old daughter (I hope I am getting these facts right), to play while she was in the kitchen.
Anyway, the aunt was horrified, and said the pitbull has never given her any reason to believe it would do such a thing. The sad thing is that the woman is being brought up on charges now!
I mean, it was an accident. In the good ol' days, if a family member's dog bit attacked a child, especially from the same family, the police weren't brought in.
I LOVE big dogs, like Rotts etc,and I honestly believe that with these types of dogs, it's the owner that is to blame (beats dog, teaches it to be mean etc).
However, I could be wrong, but pitbulls seem to just have something in their genetics that can cause them to snap, no matter how they are kept.
