Anyone know of a low-profile strip softbox for hairlight?

I have really low ceilings in my home studio...7.5' and so I've had my hairlights off to the side, up near the ceiling and aimed at an angle. I use 24"x24" gridded softboxes usually. I do have a heavy duty lightstand and boom, but even with my subjects seated on a bench, my existing softboxes nearly touch the tops of their heads! I'm just curious if anyone knows of a low-profile (relatively flat) narrow strip style softbox that might give me a little more room to work with...and with an Elinchrom mount, of course!

If setup is pretty stationary why not install the softbox in the ceiling? It can also be off in the corner or way behind the subjects not directly over head.

It's not really stationary, and my home studio doubles as a playroom at times. Anything permanent like that really isn't an option. I can get by with how I'm doing it now, but I'd like to have the option of using a single strip box overhead on a boom if I can find one that fits the bill. All the ones I've found so far have about the same depth as the 24"x24" gridded softboxes that I use now (off on the side).

I don't own any of the 'shallow' modifiers but when I was looking for a small softbox to use as an overhead hair light in a studio with 8 foot ceilings I finally decided to get the Photoflex 16" x 22" softbox. Keep in mind that even a shallow softbox with an Elinchrom strobe mounted will have some depth to it but at least with the 16" x 22" it's kept to a minimum. Another reason I got the Photoflex was because it accepts a grid and the grids from Photoflex are reasonably priced compared to other manufacturers.

The box works well and I've been happy with my decision and purchase.

Did you ever find the solution you were looking for? If so, do you have a photo of your setup?

I'm only suggesting this because I just saw it yesterday. Might do the trick for you.

Cheers,
