I consider myself very fortunate to have gotten this shot (and some other related ones). I have posted both a vertical and a horizontal crop because I couldn't decide which was best (I'm leaning toward the vertical). The weather was overcast, as usual here, so the sky is white . This bird is in a very predictable location so hopefully I will be able to get more images of it. It's a magnificent bird. (40D and 500mm f4)
Bob

I think those are very nice shots. I'd love to see that in person. Thanks for sharing.

Great shot. I kinda like the horizontal crop because it gives him/her something to look into. I'd probably take a picture of a blue sky with a few clouds and PS it in the background.

Bob,

Beautiful shot, I love the upward shot angle of this shot, Just incredible. As for which crop, I like them both equally very difficult decision there, both give it a different aspect...

What the Hay, Print em both ;)

Nice capture Bob,

I shot the back end of one Sunday flying away, man oh dear was that sucker ever fast, he was chasing starlings. I was just about to shoot a couple sandhill cranes that are a very rare occurance here when it flew right over me. I ending up digging your 600mm out for the cranes which I was very glad to have as they were quite far out in a field.

Thanks again for the big gun.

I Love my Canon,

Great shots of this guy. We have some here, but I have never seen them actually catch anything, only eating it. :)
