my camera with the flash fell over in my car seat and part of the off camera cord broke.... is there anyway I can salvage this? I went to my local camera store and all they wanted to do was sell me a new one without even talking to me.. so needless to say I just walked out.. maybe there's nothing else I can do and if that's the case I'll go to B&H... but I was hoping someone out there may have had the same thing happen... and had a get-a-round to buying a new one...

Thanks,
William

Is that the part that you put on the camera's hot shoe, or the flash on a bracket? If it's the bracket piece, I'd not worry too much about it- just screw it to your bracket using the screw threading on that piece.

This is what you need.
Little history, in the old days before chinese/ebay started making off-camera flash cord, the actual Canon cord was very expensive and that part always break off.. so this is the alternative.. when you buy the Canon OCF cable, you need to buy one of this to protect that filmsy plastic foot. I have two of them on each of my OCF cords. Hope this helps.

I went to a local hardware store and purchased a threaded unit with a plastic handle to go thru my bracket and into the unit shown above. It works well and was very inexpensive. A good hardware store will be able to get you exactly what you need since it's a fairly common thread.

The side you see up in that pictures goes towards the plastic mount, then the other side has a groove where you insert the shown nut that tightens to the plastic mount. I hope this explanation is a bit understood. If not, may be I need to take a picture of how I attached mine.

Thanks for taking time to post them. I guess you wouldn't be able to mount that end of the cord like when using a flash bracket.

I don't understand the question.. You can use the cord as you could normarly, with or without that adapter.. the adapter just turns the bottom from plastic to metal/aluminium.

I use my cord for when I shoot events and weddings. I mount that end of the cord on top of the bracket with a thumb screw. but if i add what you did, there won't be any hole with that screw. Or maybe I can still use that metal part you added use the thumb screw i have on the bracket instead of that screw that you have on the picture.

let me try to post a pic of what I meant.

Yes.. I get it now.. There will be no hole on the bottom to attach it to the stand.. but then you could use it in conjuction with the stroboframe adapter.. Here is the link.
