A buddy of mine who is the team photog for the Sharks had the same thing happen to him a few years back, but he took his to the forehead. Just goes to show how dangerous being a sport photog can be. Glad the guy walked away from that.

"could have been worse - could have been the $4,000 worth of equipment he had"

ummm try more like $10,000 + lenses = $20,000 or more if he is using any primes. :)

I'd take a puck to the face if it meant saving my equipment. I've already had 2 concussions in a year. What's one more?

the battle wounds don't make up for the fact that he still missed the shot.....

Read the blog guys, he didn't miss the shot, he was switching camera's when he got hit.
It's the second time Steve has been hit, first one was a line drive at a Jays game.
And the total gear value was probably around $17500 cnd before tax. (2-1d's, 300/2.8, 70-200/2.8)

Even though it was NHL, you still don't loose two bodies and two lenses with just one puck. Sorry.

Inside the blue line, in this case in the circle to the goalie's right.

Wow, I'm glad he's OK. But what a trooper, he finished the game.
