I have, for me, a good bit of Canon gear. In addition to the 1D3 and lenses in my sig, I have meters, diffusers, tripods and heads, light stands, and a bunch of under $100, when new accessories, you get the idea. 90% (or more) is in pristine condition, like new. I'm getting a bit shaky witth my hands and can't negotiate the small buttons, wheels, etc as I once could. I do still use it, but it is becoming more difficult as time goes by. Photography is a lifetime interest that started in 1956 at the age of 9 with a Kodak Duraflex TLR. I do want to keep my feet wet, I couldn't give up the hobby altogether. Declining eyesight is also a consideration. I have been toying with selling my entire DSLR system and getting something easier to manage, like a Leica M9. I couldn't afford more than 2 lenses (Leica, of course) and maybe a flash with the proceeds. But I can be comfortable, I think, with that. I guess I'm asking for opinions to downsize or not. Thanks.

If you feel comfortable with downsizing, then why not? Owning a pile of gear just for the sake of owning it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. If another camera would give you back a bit longer to enjoy your passion...I think the decision would be fairly simple.

You might even look at the 4/3 or Micro 4/3 systems . . . less expensive than Leica so you'd be able to have more options. But better to change systems than to be unable to use what you have now.

Cameras don't make pictures, you do.

If you feel you can get the shots you really want with less gear then why wouldn't you?

I have intentionally kept gear acquisition limited (in quantity if not cost) because I just don't see myself flipping through a bag of 10-12 lenses.

I've got 16-300mm covered @ f/2.8 with four zooms, only one (the Sigma 120-300) is not an L.

Those four lenses plus the 1d3, a Sigma 500 Super and a Pro-T bracket are my "main" gear, the 24-70 and 70-200 IS being the most used lenses.

I keep my 20D + 17-85 for portability and when I don't need low light excellence. Its the family P&S.
