How do you like the G11... how does it compare to the G10 in terms of quality of build and IQ?

This is my first Canon camera, so I'm all sorts of impressed. I'm still learning how to use all of its features, but I am enjoying it, and loving the results so far!

I had an early G2, which I loved, then purchased a G11 for travel and as a backup for my Nikon D300.
I am impressed with the low-light capabilities and the image quality which, in test 12x18 prints, rivals my D300. Shutter lag still is a problem but I can live with that.

Traded my G9 for the G11. As far as build quality the G9 felt a bit more solid. It seems more plastic is used in the G11. The door that opens to connect cables to your computer is very flimsy. High ISO IQ is what separate the two. Noise at ISO 800 is lower than ISO 200 maybe ISO 100 on the G9. The controls and menus are very familiar. I like the articulating screen and find it useful. When folded in it’s protected from fingerprints and I smudges. I’m still in the evaluation stage but the G11 and I are getting along quite nicely.

I went through the progression of G series cameras. Glad they brought back the articulated screen. My brother still has his G9 and we did some comparison shots. In general the higher you go up the ISO ladder the more favorable the G11 is. In good light outdoors the images were very close at low ISO. The biggest drawback of the G series cameras is the video. As others have noted, why wouldn't Canon put HD video on their top P&S? Many lesser models in the Canon line have had it for some time. I now carry a Sony Tx1 P&S for HD video while on vacation. Luckily it's very slim and pocketable. I used to carry a rangefinder camera almost everywhere I went in the film days. This camera brings back that feel but with much greater lens versatility.

It is silly they left it off, especially considering it has a Digic IV processor. Let's hope the folks over at CHDK give us a fix for this. :)

"Raw" is not an acronym, abbreviation, nor a proper noun; thus, it should not be in capital letters.

You said it better than I would have. My g9 fealt more a part of me with a grip installed. The g11 does better in low light, and I love the folding screen.
