I have a 15" MBP. I've been editing photos from my P&S in photoshop for a few months now and have always wondered why the images look different on different monitors. I'm making the jump to an EOS Rebel XS now and I've read a lot about color management. I think I've grasped the basic concept I just have a few questions:

There are options for color calibration in the apple display preferences menu. I was wondering if there was a free way to calibrate or should I shell out the extra cash and get a used spyder if I plan on taking this up as a hobby (I'm planning on printing most of my shots to frame and hang).

Additionally, if I do calibrate (using a spyder or another method), do I have to recalibrate every time I edit a new photo in a different format (sRGB, aRGB..)? Or are those 2 separate entities?

I've also checked Adorama (I plan on using them for printing, if you guys can suggest another service that is more efficient please do) for their printing ICC profiles, can I use these in photoshop to preview the prints? If so how do I import the different profiles? Thanks a lot and I'm sorry if these are newbie questions but I need to know.

There are a few ways, but not as good as a "hardware" calibration. Link in the link from my sig.

Those 2 are separate.
