A techy guy at work advised me to go for HD as it is better for low light stuff (his words). I'm guessing the f stop on the lense would make a difference too. Good luck with the bambino. I am currently looking at the Canon Vixia HF200 or going a bit bigger and getting the HG21 which is currently on sale locally for $300 off
