Only ever seen CaraCara a couple of times, never eating something like that though! Well captured!

Wow, had no idea a caracara was such a large bird. Are they a hunter or a scavenger or both?

Good series. I've never seen a caracara in the wild. It looked like the bird has 3 marker bands on it's legs.

Great shots!
Caracaras are very common here in Argentina in the wild, in fact they are almost everywhere as soon as you are near water away from the big cities.

i am guessing that a bald eagle had origionally killed the coot. the caracara seem to be more of a scavanger. this bird was shot at the viera wetlands in melbourne, fl.
