Stranger in the woods....

IMAGE: http://lh3.ggpht.com/_FqTNmgNQHz8/SxSQUq0UGDI/AAAAAAAAIWM/UOLVYoUxr7E/s800/_MG_2257.jpg

Shot over long Thanksgiving weekend.
I actually tracked this deer from my property, sat in the empty lot next to mine for a few minutes, then thru 2 neighbor’s lot.
Had about 7-10 seconds, took a few and this one was the keeper.

That is really cool. The focus point looks like it's just in front of the deer, but it creates a great effect. The deer looks almost like a ghost. Great job.

Very nice! I agree with Alex -- the way it blends in is great.

I love this shot! They are elusive creatures and you captured it perfectly as it was trying to hide.

Thx for comments.

As I walked from open area to more dense area had to up the ISO.

The kit lens auto focus was "hunting" and had hard time locking onto the deer itself, so I locked onto the tree closest purposely knowing the deer would be slightly outta focus, it was a gamble, all hand held.
I was walking slowly getting closer/closer, and with kit lens no manual override and I did not want to fiddle switching to manual and miss a shot.
Took 4-5 horizontal, then 2 vertical before she bolted.

I tried to get the 3 of them as they jumped away but those did not come out at all, too blurry.
(the other 2 deer are missing from this shot)

Thx everyone;
Here is the vertical shot, more clutter with the branch above so this was #2 choice for posting.

I'll catch them with less clutter, yet obstructed, that will be the "money shot" for me in this series.
