Not much going on around here this time of year so I thought I'd pull out some shots from this past spring. We had the rare opportunity of having a pair of least bitterns nest about 40 feet off the road at Presque Isle State Park. They had a clutch of 4-5 eggs as near as we could tell. It was very cool watching them over a few weeks until the reeds got too high for the daily photography contingency to get anymore shots. Especially neat was watching them roll the eggs around the nest.:D

Excellent. What I would call very intimate images.

Wonderful shots Michele, did you see the young birds later on?

Thanks everyone. I didn't see the hatchlings, only one or two people did, however, after just a few days they (and mom and dad) were no where to be seen. Whatever happened it probably wasn't good:(

Nice series, must've been great to sit and watch too :)

Sad about the outcome though, I hope it was a good ending.
