Would B&H ever mark an item as a "gift"?

I know, I know...call them, but they're not open right now and I'm impatient.

Has anyone ever ordered anything from B&H (obviously outside of the US) and gotten them to mark it as a gift?

I realize that it's a bit of a touchy subject, but if they do...I'm ordering my Tokina from them. If not, I'm ordering it from overseas from a seller that will declare it a gift (our local taxes are 12%, that's a huge hit).

No. It would jeopardize their ability to get anything through Customs if they are found out to be scamming the system. Why would they risk legal action to save you some money? Pay the taxes as due. Try Aden Camera (see photoprice.ca) and you can at least rightfully avoid the provincial.

Too bad, I like B&H, but with them it's $600 USD for the lens ($634 CAD) shipped to Seawings in the States, plus $17 for Seawings to bring it to Victoria, that's $651 plus about $76 for taxes, for $727...and I have to wait god knows how long for them to have it in stock.

For $698 I could have it shipped from Japan tomorrow

Aden doesn't have any, btw, and I've checked photoprice, but it's not listed. Thanks for the suggestions, though!

I doubt it is a lower price there, though. I know the frustration... I ordered a Sigma 50mm from Abe's; $200 cheaper than the cheapest store here so even with shipping and taxes and all, still way cheaper.

I thought you might want to be aware that Canadian customs has rules on the value of gifts. If declared as a gift, only the first $60 of the declared value is exempt from taxes (GST/PST). So you'll still have to pay tax on $640.

Picked up my parcel today (they tried to deliver it yesterday, but I was out of town)...and lo and behold...NO CHARGE!!!

Soooooooo yeah...I got my Tokina waaaaaaay cheaper than B&H or Adorama would have sold it for AND I got it in less than a week!
