A check of ISO 3200 on a hacked XTi/400D at a basketball game with typical indoor lighting, with the results cleaned through Imagenomic Noiseware.

Shutter priority at 1/200, using a non-fast Canon 70-300mm IS USM lens.

Lighting is a tad dark, and the speed is too slow to be shooting basketball, Try shooting 1600ISO, AWB, 1/500th.

Color is definitely off and the shutter speed too slow. I was going to try that hack on my XTi. Try shooting at 1/500 ss.

the 70-300 would never work at 1600 and 1/500 if they're that dark at 3200, since it is a F4-5.6.. On the good side, the shots look timed well and pretty straight, but crop/shoot basketball vertical, not horizontal, the 2nd and definitely last might be OK as horizontal though.

EOS 7D Sigma 70-200 F2.8 (1.4 extender outdoors) are the workhorses. 50D for backup, EF 70-300MM USM f/4-5.6 IS, Freelance photographer for local newspapers and my website viewthroughmylens.net (external link)
