Ordered mine from Amazon a few days ago. Got it in and it wouldn't focus. Won't be buying Sigma ever again. I was really hoping my first Sigma experience would be a good one.

rather than poo-pooing about the lens coming faulty, send it back and get another one. Just because this lens ended up with a problem, doesn't mean they are all like that. Give it a chance first.....Send Amazon an e-mail and let them know what's wrong.

Not the smartest attitude.

I suppose then when you get a canon lens with a problem you won't buy canon ever again either?

Focusing problems happen. Get over it. Send it in under warranty or replace it.

That posters attitude is so prevalent on this board. I've had good and bad on all kinds of lenses. Personally, I really like this lens as much as the fantastic tamron 28-75 I had once.

Ain't nothin but a thing.

Just wanna shime in and say that I miss my sigma 17-70 ! Even though i got a Canon 70-200L f2.8 IS USM that i replaced it with! I miss the close focus and how wide you could go, besides the awesome sharpness (for the money that is, not like the 70-200L) but definately awesome for what it is! Definately gonna get one again, very soon..

It all comes down to this lens if you want everything in one imho.. i can't find a better alternative that will do the same thing as this lens! None..

My "cheap" pro-setup;
Canon EOS 450D | Canon 50mm f1.8 II | Canon EF 70-200L f2.8 IS USM | YN-468 v2
8GB SDHC Class10 | BG-E5 + 4xLP-E5 | RC-4 | Canon E1 | Lowepro Exchange Messenger bag

Been using this one exclusively for about a month now. We had a skate contest at the YMCA that I work at today, and here is one (click the link to see the rest of the set) that I got today.
