Brennan,

Take a look at the Contax Plannar T* 2/100. Slightly different since the Makro-Plannar is a newer design, but very good results. They run around $1100 I may be selling mine since it's too frustrating to track my daughter.

There's nothing wrong with a 135mm 2L. I love mine and I am sad that I must sell it. Real sad.

This is my next to buy lens. Definitely.

Don't care so much about the macro abilities of it; I just love how it renders colors, sharpness, and rich contrast. That "it" factor, I suppose.

I'd love to see more portrait work done with it.

Nothing like a slow lizard to shoot in manual mode.

Damn it, I gotta quit following the Z threads!

It's unforgiving and will show all the wrinkles and flaws. It does not have that creamy dreamy look that some lenses have due to lack of sharpness at wide open aperture. This baby is razor sharp even at f2.

Sounds to me like it would work more with environmental portraits, but not so much with glamor portraits.

Again, I'd like to see some examples with both. Thanking you all out there in advance.

Will you be making extreme print enlargements or preparing images for the web? If the latter, you may be hard pressed to see the difference.... and likely most other folks will not. Will the somewhat similar (and less costly?) Canon lenses not deliver what you require?

Since you have the 85L, I would go for the 100ZE.

Love all the things that can be done with this lens. But first I need a WA lens.

Yeah, the 85L and 100 Makro Planar seems like a nice combo. Low light with the L, long walk about with the Makro Planar (good as being a walk about lens due to the close focus).
