I'm going to pull the trigger on this lens soon. Tried to fight it, but apparently it's too awesome not too.

Anyone using it for street photography? I do some manual focus on the street. It is definitely a challenge though on my 24-70L.

Precision focus screen, I use it with 50 ZE, does wonders, rarely missed a shot.

And why do you use manual focus on a zoom??? Seems like a very unnecessary thing to do.

5D2. It's not known for accurate auto focus --- especially in low light. Many times I will miss far fewer shots than the camera. Besides, why does it matter if it's a zoom or not. Focusing is focusing. Zooming is just another thing to fiddle with.

And I have the precision focus screen. It's still tricky at anything wider than F4 though, which isn't really a cake walk with walking targets either.

For the first point, another thing to fiddle around was why I would not us MF on a zoom, for rather obvious reasons.

I don't know, manage to get F2 shots with zeiss 50 in the street...but i have trained my eyes on the rebel and 7d so a precision focus screen made it like a walk in a park! :D

either way, back to 100 ZE

If you use a 5D2 sometime and want to focus with something other than the middle point, you will know what I mean. Other than that, it's just not trust worthy. I know it's debatable but I've missed plenty of shots from it.

yes it really does....turning the focus ring at f2 is like turning a kaleidoscope and watching the background liquify

Seattle, that first shot should definitely go in the best bokeh thread. Simply amazing!
