Looking to buy a rain cover. Would appreciate any help or suggestions. Are you happy with the one you have? Any features I should be considering? I currently have a 20D (I hope to upgrade this year). I have lens that range from a 17-85 to a 300-2.8. I'd like to buy one cover to fit all. Thanks for your help.

Not sure there is a one size fits all, but you might want to look at aquatech, Kata, storm jacket, or Think Tank brands. I use the Think Tank Hydrophobia for my long lenses.

The 300 2.8's the stumbling block. A Kata E-702 will take almost anything under that, but you'd need to add the E-704 Lens Sleeves to cover that and other ginormous lenses.

ThinkTank Hydrophobia would get my vote. Love mine, but it's not going to work for the smaller lenses. I generally go with one of the Op/Tech sleeves for that.

^^ +1. That's what I use with my cameras with either the 300 f/2.8 or the 500 f/4 attached.

I use the vortex storm jacket and op-tech sleeves and they work great with all my lenses including the 300L.

Butch Cassidy, rklepper, butterfly2937 and davo1979 - Thanks for your input about Storm Jacket. It's definitely one I am considering.

jhom and alduin - Thanks for your responses. I'm not familiar with Think Tank but will check it out.

jon and PacAce - Right now, the Kata seems to be the front runner in my mind. Have seen a couple of friends use these in the field. I liked their design. Both friend seem to be satisfied with theirs. I understand that I would definitely need the sleeve for longer lenses. Thanks for your help.

Wilt - I understand the rain poncho to keep you dry but not sure how that works to keep the camera and lens dry. Care to elaborate?

Thanks everybody for your help.

John

Camera and lens both stay under the poncho with you when not in use. You can lift it up to your eye with the front of the poncho bunched up over the lens and camera with you under a 'tent' for shooting.

Optech rain sleeve (external link) - they are cheap ( 2 for $6.49), work amazingingly well with longer lens (fit my 1Dmk2n and 100/400L easily) and are availabe through the POTN Store

aka Tony

Too much expensive stuff to fit in my cheap camera bag.
