As you seem to like them.... He (or she...) moved to another tree in the front yard. Or it could just as well be another one in the family... This one is eating. They eat leaves from some particular trees only (swamp mahogany - eucalypts). Koala's are not "bears" but marsupials and AFAIK unique for Australia. More about koala's on my web site (external link).

Conditions: late afternoon sun behind the tree. Canon 5D2, 24-105L @ 105mm, F5.6, 1/200, ISO 400. Distance about 7M

Wow! I would love to have visitors like these. Those claws are something. Their faces are SO cute. Have you ever seen a baby? Please post some more.

This an older one shot quite close to the house in the backyard with my Canon 400D (now sold) two years ago with my old EF-S 75-300m @ 190mm, F5 1/200 ISO 200 (distance 5 m and sunny conditions)

Super shot. I'm sure the $5000 worth of gear helps out a bit too.

For those interested in koala's... there is another recent thread in this section of the forum with more pictures, albeit taken in an zoo.

Today was a pretty hot day (41 C = 105 F) and this koala was not really comfortable....

and later it cooled off a bit.....
