I need some post processing help on this image. With adjustments I can make the girl come out great but I can't remember a good technique to fix the background issue since one of the lights didn't flash.

Any help is greatly appreciated. I use PhotoShop CS2 and LightRoom 2

The photo you posted is too small to make working on it worthwhile. I even followed the link to Photobucket and the image there is small too. Try using a different host that will not resize your photo and post a link to a larger version.

Sure.

Mediafire.com
Imageshack.us

If you want to upload a RAW file to link to the forum yousendit.com, mediafire.com are good options.

Thanks, mediafire is very nice. This is the best file I have, unfortunately my helper deleted the RAW file... :-(

What exactly are you trying to accomplish. Do you want to smooth the wrinkles in the backdrop or just lighten it?

The backdrop was a white muslin backdrop....

The current shade of gray just doesn't look good IMO,

I like the backdrop as it is currently...it gives a bit of an Old Masters look with the light falling on her face and the background dark. I also think that brightening the background would draw the viewer's eyes away from the subject to the background. I also think it wouldn't be enough to lighten the background, you would also have to lighten her hair, for example, to give the illusion of light coming from her left side.

Anyway, I created a Channel mask then used the inverse of the mask to select the background. I then added a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer and increased the Lightness slider and reduced the Saturation slider. If you wanted it even lighter you could use a Curves adjustment layer instead.

And since I already had the mask I went ahead and just replaced the backdrop and added a lighting effect to simulate light coming from her upper left.

You might take a careful look at the thumb on her right hand.
