Last monday I went walking round my local patch in north Wales to try out my new 7D and 300mm F4 L, gotta say a great combination! I had quite a few lucky moments, where I came across a friendly Robin that had me feeding him feet away, the kingfisher was around, a Buzzard soared out from the tree's, and I seen the resident fox too, to name just a few. Here's my best pics from the day.

Please check out my Flickr at http://www.flickr.com/photos/15863412@N00/ (external link) for these images and more, plus full Exif data of the images can be found there.

the Jackdaw above was at ISO 1600 with Noise reduction applied to background but USM applied to bird.

I know it's not a bird but here's the fox!

Absolutely beautiful shots for an absolutely great combination and a great photographer, I must say. I am positively jealous since that is my dream camera + lens combination.
Well done,
Steve

Great set of shots, I must say I'm liking my 7D more and more as well, a big step up from the 350D. Whereabouts was this favored location :)

Thanks for all the wonderful comments guys :) These were shot Raw so quite a bit of post production but Im happy to have improved over my Nikon D90 Sigma 150-500mm Combination that did me well for the start of the year. I thought I was starting above myself but infact it turned out the sigma was just a bit to hit and miss and im doing better with the 300mm F4.

Artyman, the spot is in the Town I live in Called Flint. Flint is along the River Dee and a host to thousands of wading birds in the winter, and nearly as many in the spring and summer. When I started wildlife photography at the start of the year I didn't think there would be much to see round here, and my friend in coventry was already into it and getting some cracking shots from reserves down there and lots of species. But infact Im starting to think that due to the importance of mud banks for hungry wading birds, there's lots of species that are much better to see up here and get close to where you can't normally in a reserve. Also being in wales we have such a variety of habitats from coastland, to rivers, fast flowing mountain rivers and woodland area's. Hopefully many more years of happy wildlife photography to continue with.
