I am not really sure what a fisheye or a wide angle lens will realistically produce.

Anyone care to share some good examples of each and the lens that was used?

Thanks in advance! :)

There's a whole section devoted to just about any lens possible Here.

A fisheye or wide angle will generally produce huge disappointment in people who spent £500 on them thinking they were necessary for landscape photography (who then find that their landscape occupies about 5% of the image, the rest being taken up by the sky, and the place where they parked the car thinking it'd be out of frame). They have their uses, but you need to know what they're for before you commit :)

I totally hear you there. I am not in the market, just trying to learn about things as I go. I checked out the various lens threads on the Canon Lens section, don't know why I didn't think to just do that first. :)

I do have another question however. I hear folks talking about the "Nifty Fifty" which I assume is a Canon 50mm lens. I see there are several of those with various models ranging from a few hundred to over a thousand dollars.

Which of these various models are folks calling their "Nifty Fifty"?

Most refer to the 50mm f/1.8 as the "Nifty Fifty"

Personally, I've always thought this way:
- 50 1.8 = "Thrifty Fifty"
- 50 1.4 = "Nifty Fifty"
- 50 1.2L = "Shifty Fifty"

I posted some examples here using a 15mm fisheye and a 17-40.
