I am really interested in moving off sports a little bit and getting into landscape photography. I have tried landscape a little but but never was getting good results (just not enough practice/time). But coming back into the nature/landscape section I just love the magical feeling that most photo's I've seen on here give me. So I have a question about some things I'd need to buy to be best off for landscape photography.

I have a gear listed in signature + I'll be adding a 10-22mm to my bag soon. I have a tripod (nothing special, will be getting a good one soon as well). Are there any filters you guys recommend? I will be shooting mostly during the day since it's the "warmest" part of the day and with the snow things are just bright! Also, do you use a remote trigger or is the self timer on the camera good enough? And anything else I might want to know, that would help a lot. Thanks

~Cole

#1 tip: don't limit yourself to shooting at one time of day. Shoot during the morning, in the evening, after the sun goes down, before the sun comes up, in the middle of the day, and in the middle of the night. Light makes or breaks a landscape, and not all landscapes are suited by one type of light.

#2 tip: Graduated neutral density filter and a neutral density filter are my favourite filters for bringing down bright skies and extending shutter speeds.

#3 tip: Go back to the same spot over and over again. Sometimes you make a stellar image on your first try in an area, but often I find it is the 3rd or 4th trip that really bring home the best images.

#4 tip: Don't just shoot ultra-wide (10-22mm). Lots of people associate landscape with wide angle, but a telephoto is great for isolating elements of a scene.

#4 tip: have fun!! Landscape photography is IMO the most type of rewarding photography.

A polarizing filter will also really help make things "pop".
