the mirror that is under the large mirror (only visible if the mirror is at a certain angle, otherwise flips up) was filthy on my camera. I blew some pure argon at it (don't have a puffer) and now it seems good.

apersson850 Obviously it's a good thing More info | Oh yes, I do understand the problem. The other times I've heard about it, there has been some dust somewhere in the optical path towards the AF optics at the bottom of the mirror box. Anders

If blowing air in there doesn't help, then I'm afraid your's is bad... Thanks for your help though.

apersson850 Obviously it's a good thing More info | It's not that it's too dark, and you are in Servo AF, and thus don't have any AF assist light from any flash? Anders

I have this Canon USA Inc about 1 hour and a half away from me... would it be possible to make the drive there to have them fix it and get it back the same day?

K6AZ Cream of the Crop More info | Dec 06, 2009 18:27 | #29 Before going to Canon, do a hard reset. Pull the power and clock batteries and leave them out for a couple of minutes. This will reset everything back to factory defaults and you can start over.
