That's not surprising. As long as you don't have standing water (or any other form of liquid) around the buttons and controls, things should be fine.

These cameras are tough. However the 1 series are much better sealed, including the rubber gaskets around the controls, buttons, etc...instead of the foam version used in the 5DMKII and 7D.

Anyways to me, the part about 30Ds failing in similar situations was enough for me lol, a lot of you have seen how my 30D has been treated...

Its alright Kenji we all love canon so its bound to happen countless times with double posting. By the way saw that picture you posted over at that thread. That was insane!

Makes me feel more confident taking my 5d2 in a rain storm. The seal stole the show in that review.

Apparently that's what they say as long as it doesn't have the grip out in the elements you should be alright!

Last weekend it was rainy and windy and we went to the beach. I took my 7D, no bag at all to put it in. Shot for an hour with rain pouring down. The 7D worked flawlessly.

If you must know...

I've used my 50D and 7D in light rain/snow and my 7D in heavy rain. Never had a problem, but when I go in bad weather I only use the 70-200 and will not use my 17-55. Never had I had put the camera in the conditions he mentioned in this article, but makes me feel much more comfortable with my 7D in the rain. I tend to be overly cautious of my gear and treat them like my 2 year old son but I haven't really feared rain or snow. I have been more concerned about either getting on the front of the lens making it impossible to shoot after that until I could get home and clean it.
