I was wondering if anyone could suggest a good book about photography. I'm entry level, looking for something I could use more as a handbook. I would love it to contain everything from camera techniques to color management through Post Production.

PS, I have a Rebel XS, and I also just realized I posted this in the wrong section of the forum, my apologies.

I found "Understanding Exposure" by Bryan Petersen to be a good starting point for me. Regarding post processing I've found some good videos on the net such as YouTube.

I've just searched for this on amazon and come across his Field Guide instead: http://www.amazon.com …/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top (external link) Do you think that will be good or should I go for the more specific versions of his other books?

He has released quite a few books but I think it is better to start off with "Understanding Exposure" first to get the fundamentals down.

I'll second (or third or fourth, or whatever) the recommendation for Understanding Exposure. Also, for a basic book that covers all the topics you mentioned (and more), you may want to check out Digital SLR Photography for Dummies. Despite their title, I've always found the "For Dummies" books to offer good, useful information on their titled topics. The book doesn't go into great depth about every aspect of photography, but it does provide you with a basic knowledge and enough information so that you're not overwhelmed when you start digging deeper.
