My old 10D (now Grady's) and my old 24-70L posing with a tomato (eaten long ago) for my old 40D and old Rokinon 85/1.4. The only things still owned involved in this capture are my CF cards...

I had a 10D at the first of the year and sold it to a very willing and generous buyer after about a month. Seriously considering picking up another one and keeping it this time. I do believe that my lenses are all compatable. Does anyone know if my YN-465 flash will work on the 10D?

I do not see why not, but I have not tried the combo. I can, however, tell you that my YN-465 works perfectly on my 1Ds. The 1Ds pre-dates the 10D by several months.

I had the 10D along with the 40D, and loved it. If you've been reading up in here about the 10D, you'll know what you are getting into with the 10D. It's slow, has a small and slow-to-load lcd and has a small buffer. HOWEVER, it's color rendition is fantastic. I've printed 13x19s from 10D files no problem. The 10D can still take great photos.Furthermore, if you have EFS lenses in you kit or plan on getting any, they won't mount on the 10D (without modding said EFS lenses). Now, if you need your backup to perform closer to your 40D specs, perhaps the 20D is a better choice for you.Jason C

I am mainly just looking for another camera as a back up that will put out decent quality pics. I have a 28mm F/2.8 and 50 f/1.8 right now. Both EF. I also have a 20-35mm F/2.8L and 100-300mm F/5.6L on their way. I am currently deciding between the 10D and the 1D Classic now. I know the 1D classic has more professional build quality, but I am not sure if it is worth the extra $200 or so.

I had also owned a 1D, and it's a fabulous body as well. Great output for 4.2 MP. It's heavy and it's menu navigation is frustratting at first, along with 2 button operations to make some changes, but persistance pays off. The 1D AF is awesome, and it's fast. When I owned it, I used it more than my 40D.

You will need to determine what's best for you and a second body, but you can't go wrong with either the 10D or the 1D.

I think I found out. According to anything I could find out about my flash, YN never says that it is compatable with the 10D. My guess is that it is not. If I remember right the 10D is not ettl-II.

So, I would be looking at getting a different flash should I pick up another 10D. I would probably just go with a manual flash.

Just had to say - that last shot of the leaf is awesome.

Steve

Thanks! Also, is there any decent inexpensive EF lens for the 10D that I could use for wider angles? Right now the only lens I have is an OK 75-300, and I would like a wider angle, but I don't know much about the lens market.

For less than $100, you could buy an EFS 18-55mm IS lens and modify it to mount on the 10D. It's a damn fine lens with decent color and contrast, good IS and it's cheap used.

Previously I had modified an EFS 17-85 IS to mount on my old 10D, and it worked great.

Here's a sampling of threads in this regards...

Sigma 18-50mm comes with an EF mount and is very cheap used on eBay.

They make it for all cameras, this is the one you need (although I don't know who the seller is so do your homework): http://cgi.ebay.com …ain_0&hash=item35a97d16d4 (external link)

Just noticed that Sigma do a f2.8-4.5 version of this lens now but that will cost more.

Hey guys I'm having trouble with a new lens I just got for my 10D. The lens is a Sigma 28-105 UC III 3.8-5.6.

I bought the lens knowing the autofocus doesn't work, but the lens is very dark in the view finder and won't go past down the aperture of f/4. It's weird because my Canon EF 75-300 works just fine, it's bright in the view finder, and doesn't need 1600 ISO just to get a normal brightly lit shot like this Sigma is doing.

Anyone know if this lens isn't compatible or needs something for it to work with the 10D?
