No the actual rear element hits at 18mm not the EF-S plastic, I cut that off long ago, if you do a google search there's a bunch of 10D owners who also had theirs hit at 18mm. I'm guessing the quality control of the taiwan lenses were not all the same and some are a hair longer.

It hit the mirror at least 6 times before I noticed, nothing broke and the lens didn't even get a scratch or wear off the coating. Theses mirrors are stronger than you think, in the MF thread there's guys who have hit their 5D/5DM2 mirrors on M42 lenses before and nothing broke. These lenses and mirrors are tough.

Of course after I found out that it hits I don't shoot at 18mm anymore, I would like to put a limiter in the lens so that it stops at 19mm, here's the video I was talking about. If you watch it you'll notice the stop is now at 19mm instead of 18mm.

Anyone ever shoot a concert with their 10D before? I've wanted to but been kinda scared that it will suck in low light.

I can't say I haven't. But iso1600 isn't thaaat bad. Especially if you dial in your exposure correctly and shoot with a fast lense, there should be enough light to get some dramatic shots.

I also have Lightroom which does a fantastic job at noise reduction! I'm gonna give it a go by renting the 70-200 2.8 IS again.

just received my new to me 5d. The 10d will still see some use as my rig shot camera depending how comfortable I am with hanging my 5d from the rig. I'll still be posting here though!

Been trying it out at high ISO in crappy light .
And at 1600 with a fast lens the 10D is pretty good!

shot at F 1.7 1/100 50mm

did you shoot in raw? very contrasty for b and w, but maybe a little underexposed? It would be nice to see some more detail in the eyes at least!

the 10d aint too shabby though!

I shot in Raw, The thing (I think) is that my monitor is not calibrated, it looks spot on in lightroom but after uploading it it's too dark.

I have to remember that from now on and compensate when editing.
