I need to purchase a few brightly colored photographers vests to wear during a sporting event. They do not need to hold any gear, rather they are for identification purposes.

I am looking for something like the NFL vest or this (external link)one.

I could just go to Home Deport and buy a safety vest, but I was looking for something a bit more professional.
Any ideas?

Unless the sporting event is out on a public street, why on earth would you need something like this?!

Like he says - for identification purposes. Lets 'em make it clear who can, and can't, be running around on the sidelines. Might look at Cabelas for hunting vests, and get a local tee shirt maker to silk-screen whatever you want/need. For that matter, try the tee shirt maker first and see what they can get. One other possible option would be outsized tee shirts in a highly visible colour (need not be blaze orange for your intended use - any distinctive colour would work) if none of the photographers are planning to work out of photo vests.

If it is required that you wear one, they are usually assigned to you in the press office when you check in. There is a number on them so they know who is behaving and who is not. If you could just go to Home depot for your event access, everybody would do it. If it is not required by the organizer it is kind pointless to have one.

Vests are issued by the organisers of the sporting event to accredited photographers only..

You are going to look pretty silly running around in a council road worker's safety vest at the football!!

I have a "blaze orange" hunting vest with several pockets in it. It's VERY bright. The color wavelength is specific, and is required for hunting by some state laws. Those can be bought at any outfitter.

The orange mesh vests for road work are really cheap and cooler to wear. They can usually be found at hardware stores.

I am the press organizer. We have a fairly low budget, so I prefer not to custom order a $100 vest; I'd prefer to find a supplier of a brightly colored vest that is not "construction" looking if possible.

I agree, however, the sport is not football. See above regarding the organizers (me).

Thanks, I'll look into the hunting vest option.
95% of photographers vests are either beige/khaki or tan, etc.

I appreciate everyone'e responses, keep them coming.

Here's one from Cabela's, $20-$25: It would be seriously brighter than the photo.

thanks. I also found THIS (external link)one. (It's not so "hunting" looking)
I'll just have a local screen printer put 'photographer' on the back.

Photographers also hunt, shoot, and hang their trophies on the wall ;).

I don't think you want to hand something with insulation properties to photographers running around an event.

All you really want are simple, very light-weight construction vests. Don't know about other events but the Vests doled out for NFL and NASCAR are as light as possible and rather large. It's up to the photographers to "bundle up" as needed underneath the required "PHOTO" vest.

I can print off an ID and photographer tag, and insert into the pouches.
