I did give it a go.but the lighting does not do the gal any favors when B&W comes into play. This is underexposed, flash sure would have been your friend here...is this a possible retake?

you're a great friend, but if Zombies chase us, I am tripping you.

bannedPermanent ban

It's too flat and not enough contrast for a good B&W image.

How large do you want it, and do you have the original file in raw and 300 dpi?

From "photome", I have established that your photo was taken with a 5dmk2. This means that you should have the dpp software. Open your RAW file in Canon's DPP and just select the black and white picture style.

If you can post a link to the RAW file, it would help people out much more. Working with a small JPG is tough. But, here's a quick edit. Copied the subjects and dropped onto a sky-blue background. then pulled a gradient in Lightroom, and a B&W preset. A fast edit, a lot more can be done to it, but the RAW would help a lot...

What is the best way to post a link for the raw file?

You'd have to use something like MediaFire (external link). The good thing about MediaFire is you can use it free, the only drawback is you get pop-ups. I haven't been annoyed enough by the pop-ups to buy a paid account, but sooner or later I know I will.

Just get on there and upload your file, then drop the link in here.

Downloaded, but wouldn't open in Lightroom or CS3, gave an error that it wasn't the right file type. not sure what happened, trying it again.

Nope. Lightroom says "unsupported or damaged" and CS3 says "could not complete request because of a program error".

Never came across this before, so maybe you didn't get it uploaded correctly, or it's a damaged file. I don't know. PM coming your way...

There are several ways to make a b&w from a colour image. Using the individual channels for r,g,b for example (or a mixture of two channels) will often give a more expressive image than a straight greyscale conversion or desaturation.
