The RAW file won't open, keeps giving me the same error messages. I had the thought that maybe my programs were boggled, but they open my RAW files perfectly. I think maybe that particular file is goofed, either on your end or on my end.

In any regard, it's super easy to do B&W, it just depends on what you want the end result to look like. There are tons of plug-ins and presets for Photoshop and Lightroom that will make it as easy as choosing a look and applying it. Pickupman is correct though, a re-shoot would help if you chose a different background. Just don't choose one that;s too busy. Take them out to the park and shoot against a tree or something like that.

troymm...awesome edit. Uglytuna (terrible name) there are probably some good tuturials on here to help you convert your pictures yourself. I'm still learning myself. Though I do have a couple of books that have been helping me quite a bit. Good luck..

Nothing is wrong with the CR2 file; most likely you're running outdated versions of Lightroom and Adobe Camera RAW which don't have support for images shot with a Canon 5D Mark II.

Nope. Lightroom says "unsupported or damaged" and CS3 says "could not complete request because of a program error".

Never came across this before, so maybe you didn't get it uploaded correctly, or it's a damaged file. I don't know. PM coming your way...

That could actually be very true, so now I'm updating my software. Thanks for the info.

Well, that worked, updated Lightroom and now I can see the image.

Raw works fine in CS4.

I took a quick shot at converting the RAW file:

And since I can't leave well enough alone, I replaced the sky. Its not as precise as I'd like...I'd probably come back to it later:

And finally did a B&W conversion:

I like Troys B&W conversion the best, and adding a sunset in to the color is a sweet addition.

adding the sunset in the background and the light hitting her and the dog from the right side... it's pretty obvious it's fake.
