Interesting note: I was using Mike's framing script, trying to align up the shadows, I flipped the image. Now the image on the right, her hair and posture are less "natural and pleasing" to me. Do you feel the same and why?

Agreed. As of why... it could be, that I find the left one more pleasing because I've already seen it and liked it, now the other one is just odd. Like watching yourself in the mirror is natural to you, but when you see a picture of yourself you think you look odd, differend that the 'real' you.

Or it could be, that the natural direction of eye travelling in the composition of the first photo is from left to right. The girl has her hair put to the right side (her left) and her head tilted also to the right. In addition to that, the plants in the background 'start' in the lower right region of the frame and go upwards in a curve, so it seems. And on the wall the left side is bright and it darkens to the right. All of this suggests left-to-right eye travel.

Also, this girl is obviously going to be a heartbreaker in a good decade...

I think it could be from the way we view things - from left to right, as you would read it. In the regular image, you look from left to right and see her face first, then the hair, so you stop. The second picture has the hair 'blocking' the face in a way. Maybe I'm looking too deep into it!

She's a lovely girl, that's for sure! I reckon the crop should have been on her shins, so the whole knee (and dress) would still be in the shot. Crops on the knee aren't as aesthetically pleasing for me, I don't know why.

The photo is soft to reflect her childish innocence, and the lighting is well used. Kudos!

As for the crop, I alway want to know the right way to crop for 3/4 shots, will keep the shins in mind on the next time. Thank you.
