I have a problem with PS CS4 / Bridge. Bridge won't open any .cr2 images from my 350D - PS will - Bridge won't.
I have dome all the adobe upgrades to ACR 5.5 and even made sure the required camera raw files are in the right place in PS & Bridge - but no luck.

Anyone else have issues with .cr2 files in bridge.

system:
Windows 7 64bit.
PS - CS4 Extended

That's unusual, they share the same raw plugin AFAIK. Reset bridge by holding control/alt/shift as soon as you start it - I forget which key it is so I hold all down. Then choose help -> updates and see if you get any new ones. Report back what happens :)

What do you mean by this phrase "and even made sure the required camera raw files are in the right place in PS & Bridge?"

I understand it to mean that you have more than one installation of the Camera Raw plug-in. ACR will not work correctly if there's more than one version of the plug-in in the installation path.

did the reset as per tim's idea - it worked.

dunno why the ACR 5.5 upgrade didn't work on it's own but it needed the reset.

I am having a similar problem but the Ethernet port on my mother board is fried. Never bothered to replace it. Now I cannot view the CR2s. This happened all of a sudden. Purged the raw cache as well as the other caches...Not sure what else to do...Followed Tims Reset solution to no avail...

ACR, aka Adobe Camera Raw, is the Raw converter plugin bundled with Photoshop CS. It can be launched from within PS itself or from Bridge. ACR is updated periodically with new camera support (usually every three months). To open 50D Raw files you will need ACR 4.6 or later which in turn requires PSCS3 or later.

When you open a folder with CR2/Raw files that are supported by your version of Photoshop/Camera Raw, the image thumbnails should be rendered and if you double-click the thumbnails the file should open in Camera Raw.

If your version of Photoshop is too old to support your 50D, then the thumbnails won't be rendered and the files will not open.

If you do have an older version of PS, you can get around this problem by converting the CR2 files into the Adobe "open" Raw DNG format.

So, what version of Photoshop do you have?

I have CS4 and I used to be able to view the previews in bridge up until about 4 days ago. If I double click on the files, yes they open in CS4 Photo Shop....but how do I make it viewable in Bridge...cause I do not want to open one file at a time in Bridge ACR.

Do the files open in Photoshop proper (hint: raw files won't) or in ACR (hint: this is where a raw file will open)?

If so: clear the cache for Bridge and/or force rebuild thumbs.
