Some of those shots are so crazy. I wouldn't be able to stand still if there was a tornado nearby or a volcano going off, haha.

I might shoot some of those if I had a 1200L and a 2x TC. :)

Very true. All I know about the afterlife is an angel appeared to me in a dream and told me not to bother packing any sweaters.

to me, the most awe inspiring thing about tornado shots is thinking about what happens after some of those late evening tornados, when everyone gets in their cars and trys to pick a safe direction to drive in the dark. I wouldn't care if it was the shot of a lifetime, after I had it, I wouldn't be thinking about anything except the sudden death waiting just beyond the headlights, around the next corner......

I think village idiot kind of sums it up.

If a tornado is coming (not likely here), Im going into hiding into the nearest concrete structure.

Great, another "cool" image gallery that fails to credit the hard work of the nature photographers that took the photos. I recognize several of those shots as Mike Hollingshead's - www.extremeinstability.com (external link)

EDIT: How ironic, the images redirect to http://officeofstrategicinfluence.com/gates/stealing_is_bad.gif when viewed directly.

My mom felt the same, I was about 13 and a tornado was wizzing through the corn field in front of our house and ended up decimating some houses down the road.
I still find them fascinating.

there are some great shots in that last link, too.
