I went to Detroit Metro DTW with my wife and daughter to get out of the house on Saturday. It was late afternoon, about 90 minutes before dusk. It wasn't that cold (32F) and my hands were frozen.

I salvaged a few shots, check out the link. The 400 f/5.6 is not so great in cloudy conditions close to dusk. Much higher ISO levels than I'm used to...up to 1600. :D Nearly wrote these off as a waste of time...:o

Regarding the 777...it was supposed to depart at 3:50pm. I waited, waited...then I see this blue tail creeping like the fin from Jaws over the McNamara terminal. It was the 777. I looked at my phone just after shooting...it was exactly 3:50pm. Never shot a 777 photo until 12/5.

These look OK, & I'm not going to feel sorry for you because you HAVE a 400 f/5.6! ;)

Not sure why it seemed so cold. I shoot Lake Michigan lighthouses at 0F windchill.
