This is about my third shoot using OCF since diving into it. I am pleased with the results so far.

Is that a bare flash? It looks pretty harsh on her. You can find a DIY beauty dish which you can make really cheap. Pay attention to hair detail as well as it looks all over the place... Keep on it!

Yes, that is bare flash. I have a DIY beauty dish, but I didn't bring it on the shoot. Next time I will. I know what your saying about the hair, but that is how she likes it. I didn't feel the need to clone it out. Thanks for the C&C.

Try the flash a tad higher, and pointed slightly down. The bare side light is a little harsh, and the shadows not very flattering. Also, bounce some of that light back. Put a reflector, or something white just to her left...with most of it "forward" of her face to fill in the shadows. You'll be much more pleased with the result. :)

Then add something to soften the flash. An umbrella...translucent white fabric...whatever.

This is OK but the light is very harsh and thus unflattering to your subject. Try bouncing the flash or even just putting some tissue over the flash anything to help soften the output would be great.
