Hey guys, I'm in a bit of a dilemma and hoping to get some opinions....Well, Im a new DSLR user and owner of the Canon XSi for about a month now, but I'm starting to find that the XSi may be a little too small in size for me and wanting a bigger size and more sturdy body...So I was thinking if I can sell my XSi for $600, I could try and find a 40D on the sale thread here...So my question...Is going to a 40D from an XSi a good decision? What are the advantages of the 40D over the XSi? Or should I stop worrying about it and wait to upgrade later to a 50D or 7D? Thanks in advance for any opinions guys..

Aside from the body costruction?
the ones I can remember is a faster framerate... also interchangeable focusing screen, I'm not sure if the XSi allows that

some advantages but consider some disadvantages -

www.DPReview.com (external link) “The new 450D sensor is superb and from a resolution point of view puts the EOS 40D to shame without losing any of the high ISO performance that has been Canon’s trump card for so long.” ...." in fact these are some of the most detailed results we’ve ever seen from a non-professional Canon DSLR thanks to what appears to be a slightly lighter anti alias filter (certainly compared to the 40D, for example).”

but if it's too small maybe buy a grip

amen, sister :)

+1 on the grip which you can get the Phottix below with 2 LP-E5 batterys for $67.34 from a reputable dealer on Ebay:

Excellent grip unless you want to waste your money on the one Canon sells with its logo on it and then still have to buy batterys.

Regards, :D

I got a Zeikos for 55 on Amazon, and a CHEEP no-name battery for 5. Worked great for me :)

I am now enjoying the camera without the grip for the time being....

I'd say just keep the XSi and upgrade in a year or two.

Get a Grip!

+1 to this!!

I have big hands and when I added a grip to my camera, I actually wanted to use a lot more. Give the grip a shot before spending all of that money on an upgrade.

I got this one. it came with two batteries and a holder to use AA batteries if needed: http://www.amazon.com …ics&qid=1260339678&sr=8-1 (external link)

Can I take your picture? "I'll swallow your soul!" Well, my camera will at least.

I hadn't realized it came down that much. That's a killer deal. :)

+1 on the grip. I can't imagine using my XSi without one. I'll probably keep my XSi until I go FF. And I might hold onto it after that for a light weight backup.

PIcked up my XSi/18-55 IS/55-250 IS for $710 shipped last July.
