I now have 2 genesis lights thanks to the Calumet sale. I had 1 before and just stored it in a duffel with the.....what do you call it, the reflector in a plastic bowl with lid to protect it. Now i need to think up a new idea. $$$ is a concern so no pelican case. Was thinking about a carry on size luggage bag, those ones with wheels. The lights don't get ALOT of use so it will be for mostly storage.

Any ideas?
Thanks

I store mine in a plastic storage box (like a kids toy box). It has a lid and small wheels. I can fit two lights and reflectors, a collapsible 5-in-1 reflector and all cables and triggers and a small tripod.

I use the original grey padding from the Genesis packaging around the box to protect the lights and separate them from the reflectors. I also use the original bubblewrap on each item for extra protection.

Looks a bit like this:

I have a pair of Genesis 200's and 400's both, so I needed a fairly large storage box that could easily be dragged to location as well. I opted for one of Stanley's large mobile tool chests. It's got wheels and a handle for easier maneuvering ... holds my stands / umbrellas / softboxes / light heads / cords / so its all in one place when I need it.

If you had just one or two light heads, you could use their small mobile chest that has enough room for lights and reflectors, otherwise consider their 24 Gallon chest, the FatMax, or even the 50 Gallon unit like I obtained if you want to throw your umbrellas & stands in as well. They're surprisingly affordable and durable enough to use on-shoot. Once everything's setup - I use the closed lid as my table to set some camera/lens gear on while shooting.

P.S. to above post: I also went to a fabric store and picked up a sheet of foam, custom cut it to fit in the base of the chest to protect the lights. Another sheet on top and they're cushioned in a pillow of foam. I went a little anal / overboard with mine and created custom shaped insets, a hard foam-core "shelf" that sits above the foam lining for hard objects to lay on, etc. :)

It's the Photoflex Transpac Single Kit Case and it was $139 from B&H.
