Hey all,

Making my first ever trip to London in May. On my way to South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Back to Germany on my way home..

anyways..

How do you people feel when going about in England taking photographs. Apart from a lot of people getting moved on, i mean in terms of getting robbed/mugged? Is it a generally safe place to go out shooting... any areas to avoid? how is the "tube?"

thanks

How do you feel about shooting at home?

Just use the same smarts that you would at home and you will be fine ie stay out of "bad" neighbourhoods, use discretion when shooting, dont act like too much of a tourist.

It is, imho, a very safe place to shoot.

As any where just be aware of your surroundings as you would at home, here the only thing I don't do is leave my money/wallet in my back pocket when on the tube, do to pick pockets.

Other than that it's as safe as any where, have a good hoilday and enjoy yourself.:D

How long will you be there? I assume you will want to see the sights, and nearly all of the tourist attractionesc places are in good neighborhoods.

The interweb is full of people that are paranoid. THeives abroad is not the exception. The tube is just as safe as anywhere else, you just have to use some common sense. Dont keep your wallet or other valuables in your pant pockets(easy to grab). Wear your camera around your neck or in your bag and obviously dont sit it down anywhere.

Just be smart, and think like a theif. haha Have a good trip!

Zimbabwe and South africa are both countries with rampant crime and probably more dangerous for walking round with expensive gear!

I would agree with Zleseman - the internet is full of the paranoid. Use the same smarts as any other city and you will be as safe as in any other city.

Yep. Gonna be dangerous there for sure. That's why we have a guide/guard

I carry my camera and accessories without being even harassed by the police, which is saying something these days

About getting mugged, still use caution when carry your equipment, but it is wise to have an insurance policy when going abroad to cover any loss or it being stolen

I have no heard of London as being a place where people are always being robbed.. if you feel like you are walking through a sketchy neighborhood then just get out of there, as you would anyplace in the world.
