Those are nice images, but to me, it looks like you are front focusing a little. On my screen, the foreground in front of the squirrel seems sharper than the animal. I know I had to microadjust my 100-400L and I have improved it, but just haven't had time to really "suss" that out(thanks for the new word).

Which image are you referring to. I'm still getting used to the 7D before I start fiddling though

Ken, to me all three look like the blades of grass in front of the tree rat looks a little sharper than the eye of the squirrel. It's hard to say for sure on a laptop and small size image, but if your focus point was on the eye, then it would seem you are front focusing and need to add a little plus compensation with the micro-adjustment feature.
