That's great in theory, but it doesn't mention anything about market demand, the photog's level of skill and experience, and what competitors are charging for comparable services (among other things)- all factors that also need to be taken into account. She's basically saying that if your costs are X and you need Y dollars to cover your cost of living, then you need to charge based on that.

It doesn't have much real world applicability.

I thought it was a good read as well. Regardless of your skill level or compitition, you have to establish your cost of doing business. This is a great place to start pricing your services.
