Will the 7D autofocus with the 500 4.0 and a 1.4 extender?

After reading a bunch of the reviews, I am considering a 7D for BIF/Wildlife pics. One question I have not seen answered is whether the camera will autofocus w/ the 500 4.0 + the 1.4 extender. My eyesight isn't what it used to be (and even when it was, it wasn't that good) so I do rely on the camera's autofocus.

Thanks!

Some stuff that says "Canon" on it and a happy trigger finger.

Should be fine, that only brings you to f/5.6 and the 7D is fine with that.

You may run into problerms if you get a 2x, as that would bring you to f/8 and only 1D models AF properly at f/8.

thanks Guys. I appreciate the input! GyRob, how does the set-up work for you? Do you use it for BIF? How is the autofocus?
