Hello guys... Instead of getting a dedicated macro lens, I'm thinking of buying a 85 1.8 with the Kenko macro tubes...
Does anybody here have this setup?

That will work well and may be all you need. Depends on what subjects you are after, of course.

There is one difference 'tween a real macro lens and using a telephoto lens with ext. tubes - convenience, ease of use. How much of a hurry will you be in?

Yes, tubes cause a loss of light.

You do not technically lose an F-stop, but you do lose light. So while the lens is still set at f1.8, you might be getting the light of a f2.8 for example.

Honestly, though, that is the least of your worries. You will likely want to be at about f16 to get most of the rings inside the DOF at macro distances.
