Not even contrast between face and bg? That's just my opinion.

Huh?
Do you mean there should be more between the face and B/G?

It's REALLY bright...kinda hurts my eyes..maybe it's just me. Great expression and it looks really sharp.

I messed with it a little. To me, High-key is when most ALL is white, or very white.
I made it b/w cause I'm colorblind and I'm just showing my interpretation of what I might do.

I like the high key edit. There's a real big blue tint to the image that I think should be a warmer tone for a photo like this.

There is too much negative space to the left side, it should be cropped a bit. I also suggest cropping out the longer arm (his right arm) up to the point where his left arm disappears around his back to assist in adding symmetry to the subject.

It wasn't meant to be a high key shot but I do like your B&W conversion.

Karl, I hear what your saying. I think that would make a more 'technically' correct image, but would it have the same relaxed/playful feel I see?

It's very bright and you have a moderate amount of light wrap around the face (cheek/jaw/neck area) that highlights the reduction in contrast between the face and background.

The shot is obviously very clear and sharp, and I like that about it, but it literally hurts my eyes to look at it.
