Hi, I am having a problem with 40D. I called canon and they think its a pin problem. Told me to send it it. It is only 1 and half yrs old.

They told me it could be anywhere from $180 up to repair that they would let me know after exam.
They also offered me an option to trade it in for a refurbished 50d body only $669.00 90 day warranty.

What would you do? Help.
Advice appreciated.

Teeny:)

I'd rather get it fixed for $200 than have to buy a new/similar camera for $669.

Is it a bent pin in the CF card slot? If so then you just might be able to fix it yourself.

40D is a very capable camera which despite its' age holds its' own very nicely. I don't think the 50D offers that much more. If you'd like to trade up, then the 7D will be more rewarding. Otherwise, have your 40D fixed and it will return the investment manyfold.

Your bucks N my 2c ;)

Best wishes

I'd say stick with the 40D -unless of course money is not an object. If you want to upgrade, I'd say bump up to the 7D, or a FF body should you desire it.

What is wrong with your 40D? Perhaps we can help solve the problem.
