Wow thanks everyone! So the camera on amazon has f/3.5-5.6. I'm guessing thats the aperature or what it can do. From 3.5 to 5.6. Is this ok then? Does it limit me in any way? I was reading the thread on shutter speed, aperature etc..and its confusing... Maybe I gotta read and read it over and over ;)

I wonder if I should goto best buy first and try to hold the camera, test it, etc.

The EF-S 18-55 has a variable maximum aperture. That means that when the zoom is set to 18mm, the aperture can be set to any aperture value between f/3.5 and something like f/22 or f/32. When the zoom is set to 55mm, the aperture can be set to anything between f/5.6 and f/22 or f/32.

Bigger apertures (smaller f/#) let in more light and make the depth of what is in focus shallower. Inexpensive lenses like the 18-55 IS typically have fairly small maximum apertures (like f/5.6). Expensive zoom lenses like the $1600 EF 16-35/2.8L IS have relatively bigger f/2.8 maximum apertures.

It's daunting at first, but the technical aspects of photography are actually not that difficult. Read some guides like the one you linked and take practice pictures. It will all start to make sense pretty quickly.

Digital makes all this easy to learn. No cost of film, and the shooting settings will be recorded with every shot so you don't have to take notes.
