I am looking to get remote transceivers for my flashes to shoot externally from my camera.
What are my best options? Pocketwizards? Any other good options?

I use and like PW Plus II`s. They`re well built without bugs.
IMO you get what you pay for ;)

I have the old Pocketwizard Plus, sadly I only have 1 transmitter and 1 receiver. I need to ideally add 3 more Plus II transceivers, but what I do right now is trigger my 580exII with the pocketwizard and it triggers my Vivitar 285HV and both my White Lightning x1600s via optical slaves. Primitive setup, but works 90+% of the time.

I haven't considered any other brands of lights, but if I had Elinchrom lights I would definitely be shooting skyports. That system is so seamless with their new BXRi lights.

The newer PW Plus II`s are both receiver and transmitter in one

My understanding is that the RF-602's(and cybersyncs) support manual flash only. If you want ETTL, then PW's are the way to go. I have a good luck with my 602's so far, but that is with the flashes in manual mode. And the 602's don't quite have the build quality of a PW, but at 10% the price, you can't beat them for manual flash triggering.

Good luck!

Only the new PW Mini TT1 and FlexTT5 set are capable of TTL

I'm just learning OCF, so the 602's were a cheap way to go, they trigger very reliably, but do you find that you use TTL often with the PW's?
I have a 7d so i can control the ratio between the flashes, have been looking to manual for my own learning purposes only.
Thanks!

Just set the flash to manual and use the on board system to control it.
It doesn't need to be in ETTL mode to work on the 7D IIRC

I'm sure PWII's are good but I'm surprised no one mentioned Radiopopper JrX's. While more expensive than the 602's they're great triggers.

Tim
5D II, 1D MkIII and a bunch of lenses I change too often to keep this current any longer.

Are the Radiopoppers, Cybersyncs, etc ... more reliable then the "YongNuo (sp?)" or Cactus from EBay?

I've been playing with old Cactus which have been working well for me - I shoot indoors (controlled environment) so range and interference probably not as big a problem.

Am looking into the PW Mini/Flex because would like ETTL off camera - ~$200+ each is pretty expensive for a hobby :(

I`m not sold on ETTL with a multiple flash, remote setup. How will the camera know how many and where the remotes are  I would spend the money on PWII`s and use them in manual mode. ETTL will work fine if the flash is located at the camera, but moving off camera with multiple strobes using ETTL is a waste of good money IMO.

Another option is the Phottix Tetra PT-04 II...

I have thought about using ETTL remotes, but with the manual setups, I have not had any issues just getting it the way I want it, and shooting under those conditions. I have used some no-name receiver/transmitter unit that came with my Amvona lighting kit and it works well too.
