Recently purchased a Rebel XT and have the battery grip coming in tomorrow. Am thinking of getting a flash bracket and would appreciate any advice on a good flash bracket in mid price range.

The only one I've ever owned is a "Flash Frame", I don't know how it compares with others but it makes a big difference in the photo I've take with it.

I have a Rebel 300D and it seem to be a good size for it.

I have a Pro-T that I like. It's well made and seems durable, and has the advantage that the flash and camera are always oriented the same way. Don't forget the off shoe cable.

Thanks for the responses, it is very helpful. For the off shoe cable, I have a 580EX flash and think I can use a wireless transmitter to eliminate the cables. Is that correct?

No, the camera needs the cable to trigger the flash. 580 can be tiggered by another flash without a cable.

The best bracket I've seen is the Custom-Brackets QRS-35H

http://www.custombrackets.com …prodView.asp?idproduct=27 (external link)

It's pricey, but built like a tank, and handles large cameras and large flashes with ease. I'm using mine with a Q Flash on my 1D Mk II. It's a handful, but very solid.

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!

If the cable is needed, then when would you use the speedlite transmitter below? Is this if you had an older flash.

I think the transmitter would work as you desire; it uses infrared signalsto trigger the EX-series flashes so triggering from other flashes shouldn'tbe a problem. A cable would be a more reliable, less bulky, and cheaper ($50 vs. $200 by my estimate) solution.

Wow I had not noticed that the wireless unit was over $200...a cable will do fine. Thanks again.

Canon SB-E1 - off-shoe cable is included in the box.
Not bad, but I haven't seen any others.
Gives fantastic stability to camera & lens, as they
probably all do.
