I don't mean photo equipment for photo equipment... that's pretty common... but photo equipment for other totally non-related stuff. I.e., a car for a lens, or a pool table for a body, or whatever?

Maybe bartered your services, i.e. a wedding shoot for a new computer or a portrait session for some home repairs you are not able to do.

I've seen a guy try and trade fishing rods and the like for camera gear. I don't see the point in trying to trade things like that. It's easier to just sell one and pay for the other with the money. Less frustration, too.

yes. Best offer means best offer, and I have taken a chainsaw, furnace/air conditioner repair, and of course cash. Everything has a value.

As long as it's not a Kramer-esque "interesting offers considered".

I once offered my wife for a Canon EF 300mm F/2.8 ;)

But I did swap a 12 year old bottle of scotch for an EF 50mm f/1.8II when a friend went over to Nikon..

many years ago I worked part time (weekends and whatever I could sneak away from my regular job) at an established studio that had about 6 locations. This is where I got my start on medium format gear. As soon as he had gotten all he could out of the gear from a taxation depreciation basis he would want to get rid of it. It was a tremendous learning experience not to mention that I hot a ton of gear that I still use to this day. He was an odd duck, he would say this camera should be worth 5 days worth of work and I know for a fact that it would have been double or triple that if I had to pay for it on the used market. It was a winning situation for me and I am sure he could have gotten more for it on the used market but he chose to help me out.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.
