Color Space/Color Profile

Hi,

I hope someone can help me. I use a Canon XSi (and I'm currently only shooting JPEGs, using Color Space sRGB).

I want to upload pictures to Imagekind and they advise that these files should have a color profile embedded in them. I can't put my hands on the software discs (in which there's apparently a Software Manual) but when I take pix, does the XSi embed the chosen Color Space as a color profile into the file/picture? If so, does it do this with Color Space Adobe RGB too? (and similarly if I shoot RAW?).

One added thing, I use Paint Shop Pro. Apparently Photoshop has a 'Save As -> Embed Color Profile' step and Canon's Digital Photo Professional (under 'Convert and save') has a check-box 'Embed ICC profile in image' (though which ICC profile I don't know!). PSP doesn't appear to have any function to embed a color profile (I'm waiting on an answer to this from the PSP User Group).

Any help or steers would be appreciated.

tia, David.

Yes, the camera will save a JPG with the color space embedded. Realize that not all applications recognize color spaces...especially adobe RGB. So be careful where you use the wider color spaces.

RAW files have no color space until they are processed. You can choose any color space during processing.

The color profiles for DPP are specified in the options. You pick the default workspace color profile and any image that is either already in that profile or not assigned one(RAW) will be saved to the profile specified there.

Thanks for that (I need to find those discs). Given that my version of Paint Shop has no step for embedding profiles, and I really should be shooting RAW+, I'll probably be discovering more about Canon's DPP (I sense more questions later).

Your help's appreciated.
